Brief description of the organisation and summary of experience relevant to the project
IMD is a leading national referral health centre as well as a leading educational, scientific and research centre in Serbia. The Department of Paediatric Cardiology is a national centre for congenital and acquired heart disease, caring for an average of 700 inpatients and 4000 outpatients, and performing 120 cardiac catheterizations and more than 130 open heart surgery in children per year. IMD team members are experienced in sponsored and academic paediatric clinical studies. The team has recently completed “A prospective, multicenter open-label extension of FUTURE 3 to assess the safety, tolerability and efficacy of the pediatric formulation of bosentan two versus three times a day in children with pulmonary arterial hypertension« (PI, Prof Vukomanovic) and “MAESTRO OPEN LABEL“, the role of Macitentan in the patients with congenital heart defects and pulmonary hypertension. The team currently participates in several international academic and industry-sponsored drug trials.

Prof. Vukomanovic is an expert in echocardiography, including transesophageal, fetal echocardiography and advanced approaches in echocardiography. He has around 1800 echocardiographic examinations per year. In the last 20 years he has done 1600 cardiac catheterizations, 620 of them were interventional procedures including “bed side” balloon atrioseptostomy, balloon dilation of the pulmonary and aortic valve stenosis in infants, transcatheter closure of atrial septal defect and transcatheter embolization of pathologic vessels, stenting of aortic coarctation. Prof Vukomanovic gained his international education in Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children, London (United Kingdom), Univerzitatsklinikum Giessen (Germany), AKH clinic Vienna (Austria), Hungarian Center of Pediatric Cardiology, Budapest, (Hungary), San Donato Ospedale, Milan (Italy).
